Riverlight FC

Event Branding  

A new entrant to USL League Two and USL W League, Riverlight FC represents the Fox Valley’s rising soccer culture—its name honoring both the Fox River and Aurora, the “City of Lights.” The club’s founders wanted a brand that felt authentically Midwestern Latinx, elevated enough for semi-professional play, and versatile across jerseys, social feeds, and stadium screens. They engaged Headturn Creative as an extension of the front office to give Riverlight an unmistakable voice and visual language before the first whistle blew.

What We Did

Riverlight FC tapped Headturn Creative to turn a midsummer international friendly— Riverlight FC vs. Mineros de Zacatecas—into a statement of cultural pride for Aurora, IL’s fast-growing Latino community. Because the Mineros hail from the Mexican state where many local families trace their roots, the match offered more than sport; it was a chance to honor heritage, ignite neighborhood buzz, and showcase Riverlight’s commitment to inclusion. Headturn stepped in not only as the club’s creative partner but also as title sponsor, blending strategy, design, and hands-on community outreach to pack the stands.

  • Community-first concepting – Positioned the game as “Unidos en la Cancha” (“United on the Pitch”), framing it as a home-away-from-home celebration for Zacatecanos and the wider Latino diaspora in Fox Valley.
     

  • Integrated social-media campaign – Planned a six-week roll-out of teaser videos, player-profile Reels, bilingual countdown graphics, and ticket-giveaway lives; provided Canva templates so club interns could localize posts in real time.
     

  • Special-edition match jersey – Art-directed a one-off kit inspired by Zacatecas’s pink cantera stone and Aurora’s “City of Lights” nickname; coordinated with the kit manufacturer and sponsor lock-ups, then photographed players for e-commerce and merch trailers.
     

  • On-site fan engagement – Curated concourse activations: a Zacatecas mariachi welcome, lotería-style giveaways, and a halftime youth clinic featuring local academies. Delivered way-finding signage, credential passes, and LED animations to ensure a seamless experience.
     

  • Sponsorship visibility – As title sponsor, designed co-branded collateral—stadium banners, digital ads, and commemorative posters—linking Headturn Creative with Riverlight’s mission of community empowerment.
